Call for budding film makers

March 9, 2011

The call has gone out for budding Sunshine Coast film makers to participate in free film-making workshops to coincide with the launch of Ecoflicks 2011 in Peregian today.

The Ecoflicks festival is offering two free workshops to Sunshine Coast residents who wish to learn more about film production and are passionate about the Sunshine Coast environment. All those who participate will produce a film of no more than six minutes following the workshops. These films will then be automatically entered into the coveted Sunshine Coast focussed Ecoflicks Awards.

All the finalist’s films will premiere at the Sunshine Coast World Environment Day Festival held at the University of the Sunshine Coast on 5th June this year. Six awards will be presented on the day celebrating and raising awareness of our local environment issues through creativity.

“Ecoflicks is about conveying the important messages about our environment through encouraging and developing the amateur film industry on the Coast,” said Wendy May, a representative from the Noosa Integrated Catchment Association who host the festival each year.

“This provides an opportunity for anyone on the Coast to embrace their passion for film, learn new skills and potentially walk away with an Ecoflicks award recognising their ability. In 2010 the top gong, the Best Ecoflicks Award was shared by Bruce Molloy and nine-year-old Aliyah Royer so the festival really inspires people of all ages and from all walks of life.”

There are twenty places available at the workshops which will be held at the Queensland School of Film and TV in Brisbane on March 26 and April 9. They will learn a comprehensive range of skills including camera operation, sound, light, storyboard, directing, editing and post production. As places are limited it will be the first people to register who will secure a spot.

Entries for Ecoflicks close on the 17th May and for those who would like more information about the workshops or entering the awards in general it is best to visit www.noosariver.com.au.

Ends.
