Buy-local booklet back by popular demand

August 1, 2014

The Coolum business community are keen to boost the beachside town’s economy and have once again thrown their support behind the very successful ‘Coolum Little Book of Vouchers’ which has increased its circulation to 30,000 this year and is now distributing as far south as Caloundra.

A Coolum Business & Tourism initiative, the booklet is now in its third year and has gone from strength to strength as business owners have seen the value in marketing collectively in a format very similar to that of the popular Entertainment Book.

Noel Mooney, President of Coolum Business & Tourism said the executive committee was delighted to launch the 2014/2015 edition of the booklet with an additional 12 businesses offering great deals.

“The response to the booklet last year was fantastic and so this year we have been able to welcome back many of the existing advertisers as well as see a number of new businesses come on board,” said Mr Mooney.

“Due to feedback from the business community we have increased our distribution from 20,000 to 30,000 allowing for a wider circulation of the booklet and therefore attracting more people to our region,”

Those using the booklet can save hundreds of dollars with offers such as 2-for-1, dollars off, percentage discounts and free add-ons. The booklet also includes other useful information including things to do in the region, a 12-month events calendar, an activities directory and maps which are expected to increase the longevity of the booklet over the 12-month period until it expires at the end of July 2015.

Local business owner and repeat advertiser, Genevieve Kendall of the Coolum Surfing School, said she and husband Chris had decided to go into the booklet once more this year on the back of the great success of the initiative last year.

“We literally had hundreds of the vouchers being utilised over the 12-month period by locals and tourists alike,” Mrs Kendall said.

“The booklet is a great way to package the region and attract new visitors as well as encouraging locals to stay and play.”

The ‘Coolum Little Book of Vouchers’ booklets is available from Visitor Information Centres, from advertisers as well as being distributed to every home between Peregian and Twin Waters. A total of 30,000 booklets will be distributed over the 12-month period.

The booklet will be officially launched at an industry event later in August.
