Businesses wired for workstyle expo
February 28, 2013
Time is running out for business owners and operators to secure their space at one of Queensland’s premier business expos, with exhibition booths at the Sunshine Coast Business and Workstyle Expo in May now 60 per cent sold.
The Expo has attracted high profile speaker, Ross Greenwood and is set to assist locals to launch even further into the digital age and beyond when it returns in May 2013.
Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce President, Ross Hepworth said the Expo was already proving popular with businesses from right across South East Queensland and organisers hoped to attract more businesses from this area, as well as those based in other areas of Queensland and Australia.
“It’s not just locals that can benefit from attending the Expo; the event presents a great opportunity for business people based outside the Sunshine Coast that are looking to break into the Coast business community to engage with other local business owners, form partnerships, learn more about enabling technologies and infrastructure investment on the coast and even locate entrepreneurial start-up businesses to invest in.”
Mr Hepworth said the 2013 Expo would introduce a new element that had not featured in previous years, with the event now also focusing on the concept of ‘workstyle’.
“Workstyle looks at the way in which business professionals operate within the modern work landscape as a result of technological advancements and changing attitudes towards managing a career and family,” Mr Hepworth said.
“We’re seeing a trend towards businesses capitalising on the increased efficiency that comes from employees being able to work remotely. Whether it’s accessing documentation on tablets and smartphones in coffee shops between meetings or operating from home to manage family commitments, many business professionals are making use of technological developments like teleconferencing and cloud computing.”
Mr Hepworth said popular finance expert Ross Greenwood is set to headline the 2013 Expo, which will be held on 10 and 11 May at The Big Pineapple in Woombye.
Most will know Mr Greenwood, the Nine Network’s Finance Editor, for his regular appearances on the Today Show, Nine News and A Current Affair where his ability to demystify even the most complex business and finance principals make him a firm favourite.
“Ross Greenwood is one of the most respected and well-known business spokespeople in Australia and it’s great to have him coming to the Coast to share his knowledge with local business operators,” Mr Hepworth said.
“Mr Greenwood’s presentation will focus on assisting businesses to gain a competitive advantage, efficiency and profitability through the adoption of new technologies.
To further explore the concept of workstyle, Expo organisers have also secured Dr Dean Alle to present an information session at the event.
Dr Alle has recently taken up the Entrepreneur in Residence position at the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast and is a business coach, mentor and workstyle guru.
His presentation will help business people from across the Coast better understand the concept and the supporting technologies and services available to them.
Mr Hepworth believes the demand for information such as this has been overwhelming; however, businesses will still benefit from all the usual features the Expo offers to both exhibitors and those attending the event.
“While the inclusion of workstyle will add to the content of workshops and seminars, the Expo will still attract local businesses from all industries to network, learn powerful business growth strategies, access a comprehensive pool of business knowledge, showcase their businesses, services and products and develop valuable partnerships over the two-day period,” Mr Hepworth said.
The 2013 Expo will incorporate a comprehensive program of keynote presentations, workshops, seminars, exhibitors and networking opportunities. With exhibitor booths in strong demand and a second high profile keynote speaker to be announced shortly, prospective exhibitors are encouraged to act quickly.
