Coast company expands to Northern Territory

Coast company celebrates 10-year business birthday

2005. It was the era when postage stamps cost 45 cents, petrol could still be purchased for less than one dollar per litre and we were only just coming to grips with much-loved sitcom Friends no longer gracing our television screens.

For Sunshine Coast-based human resources, recruitment and training business HRM Contracting & Consulting, 2005 was the beginning of a decade-long journey that has seen the company grow from a one-person operation to a thriving franchise with offices in two states.

HRM Contracting & Consulting Director Sally Desch said she was thrilled to be celebrating 10 years in business and seeing the firm growing from strength to strength.

“When I first launched the business all those years ago, I could never have predicted how strong the brand would become or that we’d grow to have numerous offices operating under the HRM banner,” Mrs Desch said.

“I chose to strike out on my own after working in large recruitment agencies for a number of years. I had become somewhat disillusioned by their focus on recruiting staff solely for the financial reward as opposed to meeting clients’ needs so I decided to create a business that focused on finding the right candidate for each job.”

“I’ve always been a big believer that if you put your clients first and deliver a quality service, success will follow naturally, so I’ve built HRM around this philosophy and couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”

Mrs Desch said one of the biggest business highlights throughout the company’s decade-long journey had been expanding the business model beyond Queensland borders and setting up an office in the Northern Territory.

“After launching branches in Birtinya, Noosa and Brisbane, an opportunity arose for us to extend our presence into Darwin earlier this year, delivering the same services that HRM is known for across Queensland,” Mrs Desch said.

“When I first launched the business, I never imagined it would grow beyond a one-person operation, so it’s been really rewarding to see it expand and welcome so many dedicated team members.”

“We have quite an ambitious growth plan for the next three to five years, and hope to establish branches in other areas throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.”

HRM Contracting & Consulting has offices in Queensland and the Northern Territory and offers labour hire, permanent recruitment, career guidance, workplace training and outsourced human resource services. The business celebrates its 10th birthday this month.
