Reed and RCQC recruit group CFO

December 8, 2014

Reed Property Group (RPG) will see a changing of the guard in 2015 with the recent appointment of finance expert Mischa Leonard who takes the reins as Group CFO & Operations Manager and the appointment of a Head of Development & Acquisitions who will be announced in January 2015.

While Ken Reed will remain in his position as Chairman of the group, he has stepped down as Managing Director of the successful local development and building group which has been operating on the Sunshine Coast for over 27 years.

Mr Reed said the board was particularly impressed with the various positions Mr Leonard had held at executive and board levels in Australia, Singapore and the UAE over the past 19 years and his significant experience in the property development, construction and finance industries.

“His financial acumen and expertise in strategic planning make him very well-suited to the position and I couldn’t be more pleased to see the group in such capable hands,” Mr Reed said.

“Reed Property Group is well-poised for the opportunities which lay ahead, both in the property development space and in the construction industry through RCQ Construction, and I am confident that Mischa will continue to drive the growth within the organisation.”

Mr Leonard brings a wealth of experience to the role having held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Melbourne property developer Hamton Pty Ltd who pioneered the ‘small’ apartment concept, and as Chief Financial Officer of ISPT, a property investment vehicle with assets in excess of $8 billion.

His previous experience in managing both large family owned companies and institutional organisations will stand him in good stead, as will his impressive track record in preparing and delivering strategic and operational plans for various companies that resulted in increased turnover, productivity and profit levels.

Mr Leonard said he looked forward to working with the RPG team moving forward and carrying on the legacy of father-and-son team Harry and Ken Reed.

“At their core, Reed Property Group and RCQ Construction have always been family-owned businesses driven by strong family values and that’s something that I think will stay inherent in the workplace culture into the future,” Mr Leonard said.

“It’s a privilege to be part of such a well-respected, privately owned group of companies and I believe there are great opportunities to continue to expand and to grow our workforce both here on the Sunshine Coast and further afield through our various projects across Queensland.”

“I’m committed to carrying on the Reeds’ vision and am also looking forward to bringing some new ideas and initiatives to the table.”

A keen sailor, Mr Leonard has bid farewell to his Victoria home to take up the new post on the Sunshine Coast.

“It’s not every day a great career opportunity comes knocking in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, so naturally I jumped at the chance to join the team,” Mr Leonard said.

“When I’m not in the office or spending time with family, you can bet I’ll be out on the water competing in one of the local or state competitions or simply taking in the beautiful coastline.”
