Aura’s newest retail destination has officially opened, marking the completion of the $80-million Aura Home + Life precinct and bringing a major new line-up of national retailers to the southern Sunshine Coast.

Developed by Capital Property Group, the 20,000sqm large format retail centre was officially opened today with a ribbon cutting attended by State Member for Caloundra Kendall Hatcher MP, Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace MP, Capital Property Group representatives, retailers and invited guests.

Retailers opening this week included Rebel, Supercheap Auto, The Good Guys, Spotlight, Anaconda, Harris Scarfe, TK Maxx, Beacon Lighting, Petstock and Pillow Talk, with Adairs, Baby Bunting and Café 63 to follow in September.

Capital Property Group Head of Property Richard Snow said seeing customers walk through the doors for the first time was the culmination of years of planning and construction.

“Today is about much more than opening a new retail precinct. It represents a significant investment in this region and the creation of hundreds of local jobs, while giving residents access to a range of leading national retailers much closer to home,” Mr Snow said.

“After years of planning and watching the centre take shape, it is incredibly rewarding to see the car park filling up and customers exploring the precinct. It marks the transition from a development project to a major new retail destination that will serve this community for many years to come.”

Member for Caloundra Kendall Hatcher MP, who officially opened the centre, said this was a significant milestone for the community and another sign of the growth taking place across the southern Sunshine Coast.

“Today is a very exciting day for our local community. We’ve watched Aura grow from the ground up and it’s wonderful to see the retail offering, services and jobs growing with it,” Ms Hatcher said.

“And importantly, the benefits will be felt well beyond Aura. This new precinct gives families right across Caloundra and the southern Sunshine Coast more choice, with many being able to shop or work much closer to home.

“It’s also great to see Capital Property Group and some of Australia’s biggest retailers backing our region. They clearly see what those of us who live here see every day – a growing community with a very strong future ahead of it.”

The strong line-up of national brands reflects the scale of growth underway across Aura and the broader community, with retailers increasingly looking to establish a presence in the region to service its expanding population.

Supercheap Auto Super Retail Group General Manager, Property and Store Development Sam Pinchbeck said the retailer had identified Aura as a strong growth market.

“The Sunshine Coast is a rapidly growing region, and the Aura development is a great opportunity to bring our iconic Supercheap Auto and rebel brands closer to local customers,” Mr Pinchbeck said.

“Our team is excited to be part of a precinct that provides a convenient destination for customers to access our brands and our trusted advice.

“Whether it’s everyday motoring, outdoor adventure or sport, we look forward to helping inspire and equip local customers to live their passion and become part of this community for years to come.”

Stockland Aura Development Director Josh Sondergeld said the opening added another significant offering for Aura residents.

“The opening of Aura Home + Life reflects how far Aura has evolved over the past decade. Now home to more than 16,000 residents, the community has reached a scale that can support significant retail, employment, and service investment,” Mr Sondergeld said.

“Capital Property Group’s $80 million investment is a strong vote of confidence in Aura’s future, echoing the scale and pace of growth and the long-term opportunities we’re seeing.

“It’s encouraging to have such a strong line-up of national retailers choosing to establish a presence here, providing residents with greater choice and convenience closer to home, and reinforcing Aura’s position as a leading master-planned community.”

Located on the corner of Graf Drive and Aura Boulevard, adjacent to the Aura Business Park, the centre has direct connections to the Bells Creek Arterial Road and provides convenient access for residents from Aura, Caloundra and communities on both sides of the Bruce Highway.

To celebrate the opening, Aura Home + Life will host a Community Day on Saturday, 12 September from 10am to 1pm, with free children’s activities.
