Launches BirthdayLand, an interactive installation running between 21 March to 19 April 2026

Stockland Aura is celebrating its 10th birthday, marking a decade since the Sunshine Coast greenfield site began its transformation into what will become Australia’s largest masterplanned community.

Since 2016, Stockland has been investing in the infrastructure, services and amenities needed to support a connected and thriving community. Today, more than 16,000 residents across three suburbs call Aura home.

This investment has delivered 149 kilometres of walking paths and cycling veloways as well as over 30 parks and playgrounds – including four sports precincts and three dog parks – with the 5.3‑hectare lifestyle destination, Aura Parklands, set to open in early 2027.

Environmental protection has been at the heart of Aura’s design, with nearly one-third dedicated to conservation. This includes 700-hectares of conservation zones, including a 400-hectare conservation park which will feature forest trails for biking and walking.

Stockland Development Director Josh Sondergeld said the 10-year milestone is a celebration of the scale of delivery so far and the community that has grown alongside it.

“Over the past decade, Aura has evolved into an active, diverse community shaped by the more than 16,000 residents who call it home,” Mr Sondergeld said.

“At Stockland, we understand that building communities is so much more than building homes, it’s about delivering the infrastructure and amenities that support them. Education has been a major focus, with three state schools, a private school and two childcare centres already open, and a third childcare facility opening in May.

“Local employment continues to grow, supported by Aura Business Park, the Aura Town Centre which recently began construction, and the Aura Home + Life retail precinct opening later this year. Emergency services were added with the opening of a police, ambulance and fire precinct, alongside a service station and a range of convenience dining options.

“From day one, our vision was to create a connected, liveable city where infrastructure, green space and lifestyle amenities grow in step with the community. Seeing families and people of all ages put down roots here and contribute to the culture of Aura has been incredibly rewarding.”

To celebrate the milestone, Stockland has launched BirthdayLand, an interactive installation designed to bring residents and visitors together through a playful, feel-good experience.

Running from 21 March to 19 April 2026, BirthdayLand will transform three shipping containers into vibrant sensory worlds. Visitors can explore glowing neon installations, step into a pastel playground and unleash their creativity in a giant colour-in room.

Tickets are $2 per person or $5 per family, with all proceeds proudly going to Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, OzHarvest. Visitors will also walk away with pair of BirthdayLand socks.

OzHarvest Queensland State Manager, Michaela Windsor said the organisation was grateful to be part of Aura’s milestone celebration.

“Every week OzHarvest delivers food to around 41 charities across the Sunshine Coast region, and it’s only possible thanks to the generosity of businesses and communities who support our work,” Ms Windsor said.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Stockland for including OzHarvest in Aura’s 10th birthday celebrations. Every $1 raised through BirthdayLand helps us deliver two meals to people doing it tough, and every dollar will stay right here in the region, helping local families and individuals in need.”

Mr Sondergeld said BirthdayLand is a fun, inclusive way to mark Aura’s 10-year anniversary while giving back.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Aura residents and visitors from across the region to enjoy this fun family outing during the school holidays. With every ticket purchased putting more meals on plates across the Sunshine Coast, it’s a celebration with real impact.”
