Cura Day Hospitals Group, Australia’s leading provider of private day hospital facilities, has solidified a $2 million strategic partnership with Entag to deploy a next-generation security network, powered by Telstra’s Adaptive Networks.

The deal follows the recent $500 million-plus acquisition of Brisbane-based Cura Day Hospitals Group by global asset management firm Intermediate Capital Group to support the group’s strong national growth strategy.

The three-year deal has seen Sunshine Coast-based ICT solutions business Entag commence rollout of the network upgrade to enhance visibility and control of traffic within the 30 Cura Day Hospitals Group sites, using Telstra’s adaptive network platform and Fortinet Secure Networking and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions.

Charl Ingram, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Cura Day Hospitals Group said the partnership marks a significant step forward in bolstering network security and productivity for Cura Day Hospitals Group – ultimately improving the patient journey.

“This strategic partnership underscores our dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions that prioritise the security and efficiency of our network across the 30 sites we operate across all states and territories in Australia,” Mr Ingram said.

“Cura Day Hospitals Group’s extensive network makes this collaboration pivotal in enhancing visibility, control and security across its operations, with Telstra’s Adaptive Networks as the backbone of the project by delivering diversity, resilience and secure productivity.

“By joining forces with Entag and leveraging Telstra’s Adaptive Networks, we are poised to elevate our network infrastructure to new heights, aligning with our ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

“In every action we take at Cura Day Hospitals Group, there lies a driving force – ensuring the best possible care for the patients who attend our hospitals. It’s this deeper sense of purpose that elevates our work and keeps us reaching for milestone projects like this one.”

Entag’s Chief Executive Officer Kris Carver said under the partnership, Entag will spearhead the deployment and management of the project, and ensure seamless integration and operation across all sites with continued monitoring and managed services.

“We are excited to partner with Cura Day Hospitals Group in deploying state-of-the-art technology solutions that will empower their operations and ensure seamless connectivity,” Mr Carver said.

“We hosted several workshops with the Cura Day team to identify the business drivers that led to this network upgrade. Firstly, we needed to develop a solution that offered greater agility, enabling quick and easy deployment of new sites, applications and services without relying on the legacy MPLS or data centre infrastructure.

“Secondly, we sought to leverage the internet as a transport medium for the client’s network, thereby offering more bandwidth, lower costs and better access to cloud services.

“And finally, we enhanced the overall security fabric features of the network.

“In line with their goals to ensure enhanced visibility and control of traffic within and across Cura Day Hospitals Group’s sites, we’re deploying Fortinet FortiGate firewalls at each site.

“The high-level architecture will involve the utilisation of Telstra Internet Direct (‘TID’) Fibre links with cellular failover using Fortinet FortiGate-70F appliances as the networking infrastructure.”

Mr Carver said given the rapid expansion of both healthcare and technology sectors in Queensland, the collaboration is poised to generate significant employment opportunities.

“We anticipate up to 100 individuals within Entag alone being involved in this endeavour, with potential for further organic growth as the partnership flourishes over the next three years.

“It’s exciting to see how this contract not only fosters business growth but also contributes positively to the local job market.”
