SEQ gymnasts compete in Regionals this weekend
March 29, 2012
Over 90 gymnasts representing 18 clubs from across South East Queensland will converge on Moreton Bay College this Saturday to compete in the SEQ Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) discipline for the Senior Regional State Championships and the Judges Classic.
The event will see gymnasts compete on apparatus such as the vault, uneven bars and balance beam as well as completing floor routines.
Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Director said organisers were looking forward to seeing a high calibre of the gymnasts in action over the event and encouraged those with an interest in gymnastics to attend.
“Our Senior Regional competitions always demonstrate the high calibre gymnasts we have in South East Queensland and provide a wonderful opportunity to support local gymnasts and inspire the next generation of gymnasts,” said Ms Dowdell.
The event also provides an opportunity for gymnasts to participate in the Judges Classic which runs simultaneously to the Regionals event on Saturday. This event gives competitors the opportunity to get judges feedback at the start of the gymnastics season and has attracted gymnasts from Barron Valley Gymnastics Club in Cairns as well as Mackay Gymnastics Club in addition to those competing the Regionals event.
