Sunshine Coast Medicare Local – Think Health event
Two hundred health professionals, educators, researchers, industry bodies and policy makers have received their invitation to the first Think Health event to be held on Friday 28 February 2014 at the Innovation Centre, Sunshine Coast.
Set to become the premier health-focussed event on the Sunshine Coast and Gympie region, Think Health’s inaugural event will be an interactive forum with a Q&A panel of industry leaders and facilitated by renowned producer and presenter of the ABC’s Health Report, Dr Norman Swan.
In conjunction with event partners, the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, Sunshine Coast Council and Gympie Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Medicare Local are excited by the prospect of collectively addressing the future of health care on the Coast.
CEO of Sunshine Coast Medicare Local, Ian Landreth explains that the timing of the event is perfect considering the Coast is fast developing as a major health hub for Australia.
“This event provides a unique opportunity for health industry professionals to discuss the current key issues for health on the Sunshine Coast and Gympie region and form a unified way forward,” said Mr Landreth.
“Participants will be asked to provide input based on their specific health sector and experience, be able to engage with a panel of industry leaders and provide direction back to the event’s partners and industry leaders,”
Think Health’s first year will be focussed on building a solid network of partnerships to pave the way for a larger regular annual event which will be open to the whole community to attend.
“We see the event growing in future years to be more of an interactive expo, where people of any age will be able to learn more about the possible health concerns they may have,” said Mr Landreth.
