Rhythmic gymnasts set to impress

18 March 2013

Over 50 rhythmic gymnasts from Brisbane and the Gold Coast are sure to impress spectators at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Multiples State Championships being hosted at Moreton Bay College this Saturday.

The gymnasts represent five clubs namely Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics, Splitz Gymnastics, Y-West Gymnastics, Moreton Bay College Gymnastics and a visiting team from Gymsports New Zealand.

Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer said this discipline of gymnastics is often regarded as the most visually spectacular with competitors performing intricate routines with the ball, hoop, rope, ribbon and clubs.

“Rhythmic gymnastics makes for a fantastic spectator sport and we look forward to the best of the best demonstrating their skills this weekend,” said Ms Dowdell.

“The gymnasts are sure to put on an impressive display as their routines are delivered with incredible precision and flair. We encourage those interested in gymnastics to come along and enjoy the show as gymnasts go through their paces and wow the crowds.”

The event will be held at the Leita Boswell Hall at Moreton Bay College in Manly West from 7am until 12 noon on Saturday, October 19 and tickets are available at the door.  For further details on this event, please visit www.gymqld.org.au or call 3036 5607.
