This year marks a significant milestone for one of the Sunshine Coast’s largest and most well-known construction companies, as the team at RCQ Construction took some time off the tools to celebrate 30 years of operation.

From humble beginnings as a family business founded by Harry and Margaret Reed, the organisation opened its doors in 1987 and has evolved into a company that now employs over 80 staff and delivers over $100 million in projects every year.

RCQ Construction’s General Manager Gavin Wuiske said three decades of operation was something the whole RCQ team can be very proud of.

“We are very grateful to all our staff, loyal clients and subcontractors who have helped shape the company into what it is today,” Mr Wuiske said.

Mr Wuiske said the company had certainly made its mark on the Queensland skyline, constructing everything from major residential developments, right through to retail space, shopping centres, commercial offices, cinemas, childcare centres, taverns and hotels.

“Our portfolio is very diverse and we’re proud to have worked with a broad range of clients including national retailers such as Woolworths and international clients including Minor Hotels; as well as a number of smaller, local developers,” Mr Wuiske said.

“Our team is particularly proud of award-winning projects such as Emporio in the heart of the emerging Maroochydore CBD, Iluka Settlers Cove and the refurbished Big Top Shopping Centre – just to name a few – which are also located on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.”

Mr Wuiske said while the company’s roots were on the Sunshine Coast, it had expanded further afield to areas such as Brisbane, Gladstone, Mackay and Townsville.

“During the last decade the Central and North Queensland communities have really embraced our team with open arms and we’re thrilled to have created hundreds of local jobs in these areas as a direct result of our projects.”

“In recent years we delivered The Strand’s first five-level, $11 million luxury apartment and restaurant project, VEER, in Townsville, as well as the QMBA State Award-winning, 64-unit project, Riviera Apartments in Mackay.”

“We’ve also showcased our skills in Brisbane, having recently completed Proximity Apartments, a 127-apartment building in Hamilton and the 228-apartment Belise development in Fortitude Valley.”

Mr Wuiske said RCQ Construction continues to grow from strength to strength.

“It’s been an incredible journey so far and taking into account the commitment of our team members and the long-lasting relationships we’ve built, I’m confident the coming years will be just as prosperous.”

Last Friday RCQ Construction celebrated the 30-year milestone with clients, consultants, suppliers and staff at a function held at Belise in Fortitude Valley.
