Queensland construction company welcomes General Manager

February 9, 2016

Longstanding Queensland-based construction company RCQ Construction has announced the appointment of a new General Manager, with experienced cost planner and quantity surveyor  Gavin Wuiske stepping into the position at the turn of the new year.

Reed Property Group Chairman Ken Reed — whose family established RCQ Construction in the late 1980s — said he was delighted to welcome Mr Wuiske to the new role, which involves overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations and strategic direction.

“Gavin has been a part of the RCQ Construction team for over a decade and his progression to the role of GM is testament to his commitment to achieving the results for which RCQ has gained its reputation over the past three-plus decades,” Mr Reed said.

“As the company’s former estimating manager, Gavin has been a key player in RCQ Construction’s senior management team and his wealth of experience in the industry made the appointment to the new role an easy decision.”

The changing of the guard has seen long-term employee Steve Cole bid farewell to the firm, with the former Managing Director still working for RCQ Construction in an advisory capacity while Gavin takes over the reins.

Mr Reed said he was saddened to be farewelling Mr Cole, who had been part of the company since its inception and had been a major contributor to its success.

“We consider ourselves very lucky to have had Steve as an integral part of RCQ Construction for such a long period of time,” Mr Reed said.

“He has undoubtedly helped to build the business into the successful entity it is today, and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.”

RCQ Construction is the construction division of renowned property development company Reed Property Group and has delivered residential, commercial and retail projects throughout Queensland.

Mr Reed said he was thrilled to have such an experienced and knowledgeable team driving RCQ Construction.

“With Gavin at the helm of RCQ Construction and Jay Emmerton now in the role of CEO of Reed Property Group, we are fine-tuning our strategic direction for 2016 and also exploring new opportunities both in Queensland and interstate,” Mr Reed said.

“RCQ Construction already has a number of projects in progress and in the pipeline for the coming 12 months including construction of Belise apartments in Brisbane, the Astoria development on the Gold Coast and First Light Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, and I am confident 2016 will be an exciting and rewarding year for the team.”

The company won two Master Builders awards in 2015 for its work on the residential Stringybark Place development in Sippy Downs and the refurbishment of the Big Top Market Fresh shopping centre in Maroochydore. As one of Queensland’s longest standing construction companies, RCQ Construction has successfully planned and delivered an extensive range of projects including major residential developments, gated communities, medium density apartments, retail centres and supermarkets, commercial offices, childcare centres and hospitality venues throughout  Queensland.

Employing more than 70 staff, RCQ Construction has offices on the Sunshine Coast, as well as in Brisbane, Townsville and Mackay and is responsible for the delivery of more than $100 million worth of projects each year.
