Maroochydore picture of good health

With the Maroochydore CBD on track to become the Sunshine Coast’s principal activity centre, the addition of three allied health practitioners at the Emporio development has indicated the suburb will not only be a thriving business and cultural centre, but also a burgeoning health hub.

Reed Property Group Head of Development Jay Emmerton said Flourish Psychology, Sunshine Coast Paediatric Dentistry and Sunshine Dental Care had signed up to open their doors at Emporio, and would join existing Emporio tenant Premier Chiropractic in delivering a range of health services to the region.

“We’re delighted to welcome such a strong contingent of health-related businesses to Emporio as we see momentum building within the local health sector,” Mr Emmerton said.

“With the health and wellbeing industry having been identified by Sunshine Coast Council as one of the high-value industries that will play an integral role in driving the Sunshine Coast economy now and into the future, it’s really no surprise that more and more allied health businesses are setting up shop in the heart of the region’s designated principal activity centre.”

Sunshine Coast Paediatric Dentistry Director Nymphia Naik said location had proved the major drawcard when deciding to relocate the business from Kawana, and she had jumped at the chance to purchase a commercial lot within the CBD.

“The Maroochydore area is set to grow exponentially over the coming years so it made good business sense to get in early and purchase centrally located premises that also offered adequate car parking,” Dr Naik said.

While Emporio is now home to two dental practices, Dr Naik said each business focused on different areas of dentistry.

“As the name suggests, Sunshine Coast Paediatric Dentistry specialises in the oral health of children from infancy through to teenage years,” Dr Naik said.

“Children and teenagers require different approaches in guiding their dental growth and development, and paediatric dentists must undergo an additional two-to-three years of training to specialise in this area. This equips us to understand the behavioural aspects of children and also treat those with special needs so youngsters can feel calm and happy in the dentist chair.”

A biological dentist, Sunshine Dental Care will cover all aspects of dentistry and all age groups. They are focused on delivering a holistic and toxin free approach and offer a range of services from dental implants and oral surgery, right through to cosmetic dental services.

They, like Sunshine Coast Paediatric Dentistry and Flourish Psychology, have also elected to relocate to Emporio after having previously operated elsewhere on the Sunshine Coast.

Flourish Psychology Directors and Clinical Psychologists Dr Gabriel Roux and Dr Gemma Roux said they were looking forward to moving into the precinct in the coming weeks.

“For us, it was paramount that we find a professional work space that was easy for our clients to access,” Dr Roux said.

“So much planning has and will continue to go into making the Maroochydore CBD the business heart of the Sunshine Coast, so we could see the benefit in moving now and avoiding the inevitable rush when the CBD is established.”

Flourish Psychology provides clinical, community-based and corporate psychology services to clients of all ages across the Sunshine Coast.
