Local businesses raring to go at car rally

November 7, 2016

The Kawana Chamber of Commerce is calling on Sunshine Coast locals to dust off the GPS, start their engines and turn up the road trip tunes as part of the Sunshine Coast Car Rally which will take place on Sunday, 13 November.

The annual rally – which departs at 10am from the Dan Murphy’s cark park in Kawana – will see local businesspeople and their friends and relatives come together to participate in the fun, family-friendly event.

Kawana Chamber of Commerce Executive Member Paul Anderson said entrants would be provided with an envelope full of questions and clues to assist them in navigating to a mystery location where they would be greeted with plenty of games, prize draws and laughs.

“We anticipate it will take each carload around an hour and a quarter to decipher the clues and wind their way to our final pit stop. Attendees can either pack a picnic lunch and rug or venture to the nearby takeaway outlets to kick back and enjoy the lunchtime festivities,” Mr Anderson said.

“Without giving too much away, I think it’s safe to say the drive home should only take around 15 minutes at most.”

Mr Anderson said the event aimed to bring businesspeople together in a laid-back setting, allowing participants to foster new relationships and potential business contacts for the future.

“While there is bound to be plenty of friendly rivalry and banter on the day, the event focuses on simply having fun and forming networks rather than being in it to win.”

“Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, we’re delighted to be hosting the car rally for a second time.”

The Sunshine Coast Car Rally will take place from 10am on Sunday, 13 November, with chamber members and non-members welcome to attend. Entry costs $40 per car, with funds being put towards the chamber’s not-for-profit endeavours.
