Stockland has officially opened a new state-of-the-art sports hub in Halcyon Promenade, a land lease community designed for over 50s located in Burpengary East, in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region.

More than 240 homeowners and homebuyers from the Moreton Bay community gathered to celebrate the grand opening yesterday, with Australian television presenter Denise Drysdale cutting the ribbon to officially open the Sports Hub.

It was also announced that Halcyon Promenade will be expanding, with around 200 additional homes planned to launch in the western section of the community – Halcyon Promenade West – in September this year.

The sports hub includes three pickleball courts, two billiard tables, a golf simulator, a dance floor, an arts room, a bar and kitchen, a community garden, a barbeque pavilion, an outdoor deck and a community courtyard with a fire pit and outdoor tennis tables. These new additions complement the already popular dog park, Spratt Park, and the Wellness Centre that opened in July.

Stockland Halcyon Communities Project Director, Andrew Astorquia, said it was great to celebrate this milestone with the community.

“The opening of the sports hub builds on the vibrant community’s existing facilities – a lap pool, gym, sauna, and yoga lawn – encouraging homeowners to keep a healthy, active and connected lifestyle,” Mr Astorquia said.

“The launch of Promenade West follows the near sell-out of the existing homes in Halcyon Promenade and reflects our commitment to investing in the growing Moreton Bay region. Once complete, Promenade West is expected to include an environmental reserve and connections to nature.

“The community continues to attract a diverse range of buyers, including those looking to downsize from larger homes in the city, those moving from interstate, and locals looking to make new friends and enjoy their retirement years in a tight-knit community with an impressive range of facilities.”

Jo-Anne Mbouche, Stockland Halcyon Community Manager, said Halcyon Promenade has become a popular choice for a range of public servants who have a strong sense of what it is to build, and serve, local communities.

“Among the new homeowners are retired firefighters, police officers, a pilot, a magistrate, and a superintendent,” Ms Mbouche said.

“Their presence not only adds a valuable layer of trust and sense of security to the community but also reflects the diverse and inclusive nature of Stockland Halcyon Promenade.”

Among those attending the sports hub celebrations was retired police officer Gary Pearce who moved to the community in March.

“Seeing so many people come together to enjoy the new sports hub is incredibly exciting. It’s fantastic to have a place where we can all gather for some fun and friendly competition,” Mr Pearce said.

“Having recently retired from the police force, staying active is a priority for me, so the sports hub means a lot. Hopefully, I’ve still got another 15 or so years of a very active lifestyle ahead, and having this space means I can keep up my daily exercise routine and have a lot of fun doing it.

“This is our first time living in an over 50’s community, and initially, my wife Debbie was hesitant. We’re in our early 60s and wondered if we might be too young. But now, with so many activities on our doorstep and so much to do, Debbie says it’s the best move we’ve ever made.

“Debbie is getting back into swimming with the heated sun-protected pools, and I’ve volunteered to help new residents get acquainted with the gym and golf facilities – we already have 30 people signed up for pickleball.”

“We love the high-end facilities and how safe we feel in a gated community, plus there are endless social opportunities. We have a great bunch of neighbours that we see regularly at the street parties, and now we also have the Sports Hub as a central place to get together.

Halcyon Promenade is located at 1-37 Caulfield Drive, Burpengary East, just 10 kilometres from the picturesque sandy shores of Moreton Bay. With the Bruce Highway nearby, the community enjoys a convenient location, 40 kilometres north of Brisbane and 55 kilometres south of the Sunshine Coast. The sports and lifestyle hub facilities are positioned to the east and west of Caulfield Drive.
