April 27, 2015

The Nambour Selangor Private Hospital this week announced that Dr Anders Faber-Swensson would join the team of specialists as a gynaecological consultant and surgeon to assist with the re-establishment of gynaecological services at the hospital.

Dr Faber-Swensson, originally from Norway, brings a wealth of experience to the position and, while he is trained in all aspects of obstetrics, has special interest is in infertility and laparoscopic surgery.

“This is a great time to be joining the Selangor team and I’m proud to be an integral part of returning gynaecology services to the hospital,” Dr Faber-Swensson said.

“My association with Nambour Selangor Private Hospital started with the birth of my second child in 2011 so it’s great to come back in another capacity to help expand the service offering.”

Dr Faber-Swensson moved to Australia to complete his medical degree in Newcastle before moving to Queensland to train further in obstetrics and gynaecology. He was recently awarded a Masters of Reproductive Medicine by the University of New South Wales, is a lecturer at the University of Queensland and has several publications resulting from research in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.

Simon Rodger, Chief Executive Officer at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital said the team were delighted to welcome Dr Faber-Swensson on board and to celebrate the return of gynaecology services to the hospital.

“Residents of Nambour and the surrounding hinterland will no longer have to travel great distances to see a gynaecologist, they can again now receive expert care and treatment close to home.”

Dr Faber-Swennson has called the Sunshine Coast home for the past three years and when not working, enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children making the most of what the Coast has on offer.

“It would be hard to imagine there could be a place better suited to raising a young family than the Sunshine Coast,” Dr Faber-Swensson.

“My wife Louisa and I take every opportunity to enjoy the lifestyle here and spend most weekends on the beach and in the pool.”
Dr Faber-Swensson also enjoys playing the piano and ukulele when time permits.
