Gardening gurus converge on the Coast for Expo

July 8, 2010

Excitement is mounting in anticipation of the 26th Queensland Home Garden Expo with top landscape designers, nurseries and leading horticulturists converging on the Nambour Showgrounds for this weekend’s event.

The three-day event, from 9-11 July, is set to attract over 27,000 garden lovers and horticultural professionals as well as some of Australia’s leading gardening gurus who will be hosting lectures, demonstrations and workshops and offering free advice for garden novices and experts alike.

In addition to the extensive array of exhibits and entertainment, visitors to the Expo will have the opportunity to win an 8-day tour for two to the Chiang Mai Flower Festival in Thailand, valued at over $4,400.

Event Manager, Marion Beazley says the build-up to this year’s event is fantastic with the landscape gardeners commencing their full-size garden displays on Monday, scarecrow competition entries arriving on Wednesday and the showgrounds being transformed into a gardeners delight throughout the week.

“The Expo is highly regarded as one of Queensland best gardening events and places amongst the top five in the country with over 360 exhibitors including 50 nurseries,” said Marion.

“Whether you live on acreage or in an apartment, there is something for everyone at the Expo. It’s a great day out for families and with sunny weather forecast for the weekend, we expect record numbers.”

Special exhibits include the ‘Giant Organic Kitchen Garden’ featuring permaculture and organic gardening, major floral art competitions, a special ‘kids at play’ area and large displays from Queensland’s Garden Clubs and Flora Societies.

The Expo will once again host a high calibre Lecture and Demonstration Program on seven stages featuring some of Australia’s leading garden experts including radio 4BC’s Col Campbell, ABC radio host Annette McFarlane and Brisbane Botanical Gardens Curator, Ross McKinnon.

“This year’s Expo will not only provide visitors with a great day out and access to valuable gardening advice and information, but also the resources and inspiration to create their very own outdoor haven at home,” said Marion.

“While home gardening is the focus of the event, we always aim to offer a great day out for the whole family with free eco entertainment shows for the kids, quality food stalls and a number of innovative products to surprise everyone.”

If you consider yourself an avid gardener, why not invest in a Gold Pass which entitles the cardholder unlimited entry to the event across the three-days, discounted parking rates, exclusive access to the Gold Club, as well as a number of other special offers.

If you are a novice, a budding gardener, collector or just looking for a great day out, be sure to head along to this year’s Queensland Home Garden Expo.

Ends.
