Energy Parks Australia celebrates expansion – October 21, 2011
In a bid to increase the volume of strategically located energy parks across Australia and accelerate the growth in solar harvesting, Sunshine Coast company, Energy Parks Australia today announced an expansion in services to help land owners across the country gain approval for solar farming.
The company, which celebrated the approval of a solar farm in Cootharaba earlier this month, now has more medium to large scale megawatts approved than any other planning firm in Australia and has been responding to an influx of enquiries requesting advice on how to better manage the in-depth application process.
Energy Parks Director, Jason Hague believes the exponential increase in interest in solar farming indicates the potential of this industry and the economic benefits this model represents for both land owners and the utility companies.
“The strategic planning of solar farms creates a better outcome for the utility providers compared to the adhoc results driven by residential rooftop take-up and we have developed valuable relationships with the major utility companies which maintain the transmission lines and associated electricity infrastructure to ensure we deliver on what they need,” said Jason.
“Navigating through the application process can be time consuming and overwhelming for those who don’t work in this industry and we are hoping this service will help people follow the process and provide new opportunities for Energy Parks and other partners to get involved.”
Energy Parks has completed applications and received approval for over 13 megawatts of solar to date with another 45 megawatts covered by six different applications between Victoria and Northern Queensland under various stages of the relevant states application process.
The extended service will see the company do a site analysis report that advises clients on all aspects related to the future development potential of their land and addresses issues such as grid connection, state and local government regulatory provisions and environmental matters such as visual amenity and protection of good agricultural land.
“We have developed a 15 point plan which enables our clients to determine in a very short amount of time and at a very low cost, the likelihood of their application being successful,” said Jason.
“Our extensive knowledge of the renewable energy industry and more specifically the application process gives land owners the opportunity to move through the process quickly and painlessly and in turn, enables us to grow a critical mass of solar farms across the country.”
Ron Studdock who is the owner of the land which recently received approval in Cootharaba was impressed with the quick turnaround achieved.
“I was very pleased with way the team at Energy Parks Australia dealt with the application, they were professional and knowledgeable both about the industry and the application process,” said Ron.
“I would certainly encourage others who are considering solar farming to get in touch with them for an assessment.”
Energy Parks Australia still aims to have development activity commence on their Valdora site before Christmas as they finalise agreements with potential partners and Cootharaba is expected to follow shortly after.
