The RCQ Construction team working on the $6.5 million project The George in the heart of Cotton Tree celebrated a major milestone this week with the pouring of the 2nd floor slab of the six-storey building.
This marks the third of six slab pours over the course of the project, which will see over 2,500m³ of concrete brought onsite by approximately 350 concrete truck deliveries.
RCQ General Manager Gavin Wuiske said he was delighted with the progress at the mixed-use development, which commenced construction in December last year.
“This pour sees the start of the third level which will facilitate a large commercial space and amenity facilities across the full level,” said Mr Wuiske.
“The top three levels of the building, which was designed by local architect Paul Braithwaite from Sprout Architects, will house residential apartments ― some with water views to the Maroochy River mouth and the remainder with views over to the new CBD.”
“We currently have 50 local contractors working onsite as well as five members of the RCQ team and while we have had relatively dry weather since construction commenced, completing the pour last week was essential to avoid the heavy rain.”
The George Street project ― which is being developed by locally based development company Eurolaw ― is a high quality development including 18 two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments as well as approximately 1,000m² of commercial space and 250m² of retail space.
Selling agent Damien Said from Century 21 confirmed that sales in The George had been strong with five of the apartments selling prior to construction commencing.
“There are six apartments per floor over levels four, five and six; all with good size balconies and high level finishes including stone benchtops, quality appliances in the kitchen as well as air conditioning throughout,” commented Mr Said.
“It’s no surprise that the response has been so positive as there isn’t much new stock available walking distance from both the beach and the Maroochydore CBD, which will soon be the heart of the Sunshine Coast business community.”
“The George doesn’t only make sense from a lifestyle perspective; it also ticks all the boxes as an investment given the significant growth we expect in the Maroochydore area as the CBD comes into its own.”
