Business breakfast to highlight high value industry resources

With a number of international export opportunities and high profile infrastructure projects in the pipeline for the Sunshine Coast, a range of Kawana-based business owners will join Sunshine Coast Council’s High Value Industry Taskforce chairs at the Brightwater Hotel on Wednesday, 20 April to find out what resources are available to local businesses to assist them to grow, build industry connections and attract investment support.
The event – hosted by Kawana Chamber of Commerce – will feature presentations from Sunshine Coast Council’s Economic Development Branch Manager Paul Martins and High Value Industries Coordinator Anne Lawrence, while also providing an opportunity for attendees to liaise directly with individual taskforce chairs.
Kawana Chamber of Commerce President Linda Delamotte said the business breakfast would highlight a number of programs and initiatives available to assist local businesses in winning tenders and contracts and leveraging opportunities offered by some of the major events occurring in the region.
“In addition to major infrastructure projects like the hospital development and airport expansion, events such as the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championships present plenty of avenues that local businesses can use to directly and indirectly benefit from the increased tourism traffic,” Ms Delamotte said.
“What many Coast business owners and operators don’t realise is that Sunshine Coast Council and numerous other not-for-profit organisations offer workshops that outline ways to capitalise on these events, which takes some of the guess work out of the process.”
“Council’s international business development and export program also offers heavily subsidised training on how to access key export markets that are supported by international trade missions, so we’re looking forward to providing details about this initiative at the upcoming business breakfast.”
Ms Delamotte said perhaps most importantly, the event would highlight where local business owners and operators could go to obtain referrals within key government agencies and industry groups.
“Developing business connections is one of the most crucial elements of building a successful business, so insight into the networks available and how to access them will prove invaluable to our business community.”
As part of the chamber event, attendees will be provided with the chance to speak with taskforce chairs in the education and research; tourism, sport and leisure; aviation and aerospace; and clean technologies industries. These are just some of the high-value industries that Sunshine Coast Council has identified as areas offering the greatest potential to succeed as the regional economy grows.
The Kawana Chamber of Commerce business breakfast will take place on Wednesday, 20 April between 7.00am and 8.30am at the Brightwater Hotel, 15 Freshwater Street, Mountain Creek.
