Travis Schultz & Partners (TSP) newest recruit, associate lawyer, Kimia Zarei, knew from a young age she loved working with people and wanted to make a difference in the lives of those who needed help.

“I was lucky enough to get my foot in the door in the legal industry when I was 18 years old, landing my first job as a legal secretary at a property law firm,” Ms Zarei said.

Since then, Ms Zarei has worked across several sectors of the industry, bringing an array of legal experience to the TSP team.

“Since my career began in 2015, supporting clients to feel empowered and heard while navigating their legal journey, by working with them rather than for them, has always been a key priority for me,” Ms Zarei said.

“I grew up always wanting to help people, so that’s why I have always been attracted to areas of law that have clients at the forefront of the job, for example; personal injuries law, criminal law, migration and refugee law as well as taking on pro bono work and volunteering.

“I’m now excited to join the growing TSP family and work towards becoming a specialist in the three core areas of personal injury claims.”

In additional to her work at TSP, Ms Zarei is passionate about giving back to the legal community by donating her time at the LGBTI legal service and serving as a committee member of Queensland Young Lawyers (QYL).

“I love volunteering and believe that anyone in a position of power or privilege should take the time to assist others who may not necessarily have the means. For me, it’s about trying to the bridge the access to justice gap as much as possible,” Ms Zarei said.

“In terms of my work for QYL, I wanted to make a positive difference in the profession and help to create opportunities for learning and growth for other young lawyers, as well as helping to create a diverse network and community for those lawyers to be a part of.”

“In the near future, I wish to start volunteering again at Caxton Legal Service and LawRight and start to volunteer at Bayside Community Legal Service.”

TSP Managing Principal, Travis Schultz said Ms Zarei was a clear fit for the expanding team, with the young gun demonstrating the key values of the award-winning firm.

“You only have to look at Ms Zarei’s experience and current additional commitments to the legal profession to know that she is passionate about doing what it takes to ensure her clients receive the best possible outcome,” Mr Schultz said.

“Not only is Ms Zarei a well-rounded lawyer, she’s warm, extremely generous with her time and is a person who clearly aligns with our guiding values of fairness, respect and compassion. We are thrilled to welcome her to our fast-growing team.”

Ms Zarei said she feels fortunate to be working with a team whose morals align with her own.

“TSP’s clients have access to cutting edge expertise without the price tag. The firm has some of the best lawyers in the country, including highly awarded lawyers and accredited specialists in all areas of compensation law,” she said.

“They’re passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of people within our community, which is exactly the kind of support everyone deserves when navigating a difficult and traumatic time of their life.”

TSP was founded in 2018 with the aim of doing compensation law differently. It now boasts six, and soon to be seven, Queensland Law Society (QLS) Accredited Specialists working from offices in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Cairns.
