Deborah Hutton to keynote at Connect 2015
June 18, 2015
It was announced today that one of the most recognisable and best-known personalities in Australia, Deborah Hutton, will be a keynote speaker for Connect 2015, a one-day business event being organised by the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce on Thursday 30 July at the Mooloolaba TAFE.
Event Chair, Ross Hepworth, said the Sunshine Coast business community is in for a real treat with the addition of the high profile and well-regarded business woman in her own right, Deborah Hutton, to the flourishing event program.
“We are delighted to be welcoming Deborah to Connect 2015 and look forward to learning more about her impressive journey and the lessons she learnt along the way,” Mr Hepworth said.
“As business people it’s important to take stock from time to time to explore how we keep ourselves and our businesses current and relevant.”
Ms Hutton has successfully covered the broad landscape of Australian media for more than 30 years and as a dynamic business person, publisher and founder of Balance by Deborah Hutton, she will share insights and tools that have kept her at the top of her game. Deborah Hutton is a powerful reminder that by believing in yourself, and adapting to new challenges in an ever-changing digital world, you can build resilience by creative reinvention.
Ms Hutton said she was very excited about returning to the Sunshine Coast to be part of this year’s Connect 2015 event.
“I’ve spent quite a bit of time on the Sunshine Coast over the years and it’s one of my favourite places. There is a wonderful energy on the coast that’s being driven by smart people, with fresh ideas, doing great things in business,” Ms Hutton said.
“Like many local business owners, over the years I’ve had to take a good look and re-evaluate my position in order to remain relevant and in the game. I’m looking forward to sharing some of the tools I have used along the way.”
In her latest reinvention, Deborah founded an ambitious project to help women find better life balance.
“Facing 50 and the shock of being diagnosed with a serious skin cancer, I spent more than a year re-assessing and redefining myself and realised along the way, other people were in a similar position and searching for help and guidance through listening to trusted experts and advisors,” Ms Hutton said.
“This provided me with an opportunity and the chance to push myself out of my comfort zone launching ‘Balance by Deborah Hutton’ ̶ an on-line community designed to help people connect with coaches and mentors who offer practical advice towards living a happier and more successful life.”
“I’m looking forward to sharing my story which hopefully will resonate with small business owners on how we can become more resilient in a rapidly changing marketplace.”
Ms Hutton will deliver a keynote address to Connect 2015 attendees on the afternoon of Thursday, 30 July. She joins Firestarter founder Aaron Wood, RedEye founder Wayne Gerard, CSIRO principal scientist in strategic foresight Dr Stefan Hajkowicz and atmail CEO Zach Johnson on this year’s speaker line-up.
