Sunshine Coast Council – discovermaroochy – 2006 to 2010

Our ability to manage comprehensive PR campaigns is one of our major strengths, which can be demonstrated by the work Maya Gurry and her team completed for the Sunshine Coast Council and formerly Maroochy Council’s tourism marketing department between February 2006 and July 2010.

On behalf of discovermaroochy, our responsibilities included organising industry networking events across the region as well as promoting the importance of tourism to the region through media and other activity.

In this time we hosted 29 networking events at venues across the central Sunshine Coast region which attracted over 3,000 tourism operators collectively and received fantastic feedback from the industry.

The events were creatively themed to maintain interest and promote networking amongst industry members encouraging partnerships and collaborative marketing initiatives between complementary operators.

We were also responsible for the management of various tourism newsletters, extensive database management, the preparation of presentations, organising industry and media familiarisations as well as providing media liaison, copywriting and strategic planning services.

In July 2010, discovermaroochy was integrated into the Sunshine Coast’s newly formed Regional Tourism Organisation, Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd which is responsible for the promotion of the central region of the Coast today.

We thoroughly enjoyed our journey with discovermaroochy and working with David Hopper and his team. In this time we gained an extensive understanding of the tourism industry and developed a valuable network of contacts within the industry.

Events included:

The Art Market, Tiffany Jones Fine Art Gallery, Buderim

What our client said…

Maya’s personal contacts, peer and staff respect in the media particularly has ensured that our press releases gain maximum exposure where it counts.

Additionally, Maya’s business Fresh PR has also been responsible for the event management of our tourism industry networking evenings.  During and leading up to these events Maya’s leadership, motivational ability and personal attributes shone and contributed immensely to their success.

Whilst relaxed Maya is vivacious and sophisticated, she is also totally committed to her personal and professional development. She is a true professional and is a delight to work with.
