Stockland is proud to announce the opening of Glider Park – a $3.5 million community space and the first park within the Kinma Valley masterplanned community in Morayfield. This one-hectare park offers a new destination for families to connect and marks an exciting milestone for the growing community.
To celebrate, Stockland will host a free opening event on Saturday 22 November, inviting families to explore the imaginative play spaces, shaded picnic areas, and unique cultural storytelling woven throughout its design. The event will feature a traditional welcome and dance, live music, family activities, face painting, and a sausage sizzle hosted by Carmichael College.
Stockland Senior Development Manager, Dan Nay, said Glider Park marks the beginning of much more to come for the growing community.
“For the hundreds of families preparing to settle in over the coming months, Glider Park is a welcoming first space to connect and feel part of the community,” Mr Nay said.
“More than 30 per cent of Kinma Valley is dedicated to open space, this is just the beginning. Glider Park is the first of many proposed parks, green corridors and natural areas that will shape the community’s lifestyle for years to come.”
The park’s design celebrates the region’s landscape and heritage, featuring natural materials, organic forms and public art that honour Kabi Kabi Country. Visitors can enjoy BBQ and picnic shelters, a half basketball court, a dry creek bed and kick-about lawn, all surrounded by native planting and shaded green spaces.
Every element of the park has been designed to spark curiosity and connection, from its nature-inspired play spaces to the storytelling woven through embedded throughout. Delivered in collaboration with Urbis, Blaklash and First Nations artist Zartisha Davis, the park reflects Stockland’s commitment to creating places that are both playful and purposeful.
Senior Landscape Architect at Urbis, Rebecca Woodbridge, said that the design draws inspiration from the sugar glider, a small nocturnal marsupial native to the region.
“The park’s design captures its graceful movement through the trees and its connection to the landscape,” Ms Woodbridge said.
“The custom-built playground features a soaring slide with a curving tower that lets children ‘glide’ down like the creature itself. The eucalypt-patterned rubber softfall and tree-sap-inspired climbing grips – some embedded with tiny model insects to mimic amber – are designed to spark curiosity and imagination.”
“The sugar glider’s story also holds deeper cultural meaning, symbolising the connection between land, water, and community that runs through Kabi Kabi Country. It became a unifying symbol for how we wanted people to feel here – connected, curious, and free.”
New homesites at Kinma Valley will continue to be released throughout 2025, with 24 lots in Stages 13 and 14 to be released on 25 November. Future milestones include the first stage of the Community Hub with a café, along with the full opening of the 34-home display village in 2026. In the meantime, families are invited to explore the 26 homes already open in the display village.
