2014 Queensland Garden Expo

The 2014 Queensland Garden Expo attracted a massive crowd of approximately 35,000 garden enthusiasts from across Queensland and beyond. The event held on 11-13 July was the thirtieth anniversary of the expo and included 300-plus exhibitors and presenters.

The expo welcomed over 55 nurseries selling 40,000-plus plants per day, and a range of new plant varieties were launched including mini grafted dwarf citrus trees, nectarine and peach varieties that thrive in the sub-tropics, and the Australian-bred ‘Blueberry Burst’ blueberry bush.

The showgrounds were transformed into beautiful landscape garden displays and a fully planted garden bed in the Giant Kitchen Garden area.

The event offered something for all ages, with plenty of talks, demonstrations and activities to entertain the younger generation of green thumbs coming along for a family day out.

Children’s activities included an Old McDonald’s Farm baby animal nursery, child-focused workshops as well as children’s rides and a jumping castle.

The 2015 Queensland Garden Expo will take place between 10 and 12 July at the Nambour Showgrounds on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. For more information, please visit www.qldgardenexpo.com.au.
