10 good reasons to plant a tree

June 15, 2012

This year’s Queensland Garden Expo will encourage visitors to plant more trees in support of Nursery & Garden Industry Australia’s ‘More Trees Please’ campaign.

Need a good reason to plant a tree? Here are a few ideas which may help you get your gardening gloves on!

1. More trees = less pollution and more oxygen, and we all know that’s a good thing!
2. More trees = more things for kids to climb, more shade for picnics and more places to hang swings and build tree houses
3. More trees = more wildlife in our gardens and parks
4. More trees = more opportunities for kids to plant something, nurture it and watch it grow
5. More trees = a more peaceful, relaxing and stress free life (really, it’s a fact!)
6. More trees = less noise pollution at busy intersections and thoroughfares
7. More trees = often reduced power bills thanks to natural shade and transpiration
8. More trees = a closer connection to nature and the human senses
9. More trees = safer urban streets
10. More trees = something of value to pass on to future generations

The 2012 Queensland Garden Expo features over 360 exhibitors offering the latest in plants, garden tools, books, accessories, garden art and more. The seven live stages will host lectures, demo’s and workshops offering free expert advice and information all day every day, whilst plant exhibitors will have nearly 40,000 plants for sale daily.

The Expo is held at Nambour Showgrounds from July 6-8. For more information please visit www.qldgardenexpo.com.au.

Ends.
