Coolum’s Little Book of Vouchers launched

September 19, 2012

In a drive to minimise the impact of the tough economic climate, Coolum Business & Tourism has launched the ‘Coolum Little Book of Vouchers’, an innovative marketing initiative encouraging both locals and visitors to ‘shop local’ and support businesses in the region.

The booklet, which has a similar format to the very popular Entertainment Book has 40 discount vouchers and offers from local businesses in Coolum and surrounds, including accommodation houses, restaurants and cafés, activities, services and retail.

Noel Mooney, President of Coolum Business & Tourism said the executive committee brainstormed a number of options to help profile local businesses with this initiative proving the most popular to effectively measure a return on investment and provide a win-win for businesses and those using the booklet.

“At times like these it’s more important than ever for an organisation like Coolum Business & Tourism to support local business and encourage visitation to the region,” said Noel.

“We are very excited to be launching the ‘Coolum Little Book of Vouchers’ which was made possible with the support of Tourism Noosa, and we hope to make this an annual marketing initiative as the concept gains traction in the community.”

Those using the booklet can save hundreds of dollars by supporting local businesses with offers such as 2-for-1, dollar and percentage discounts and free add-ons. The booklet also includes other useful information including things to do in the region, a 12-month events calendar, a list of local activities, maps and emergency numbers which are expected to increase the longevity of the booklet over the 12-month period until it expires in September 2013.

Tourism Noosa General Manager, Damien Massingham, said the booklet was a great example of how local businesses can work together to elevate their profile with the tourism market.

“Visitors to the region often look to local publications to discover what is on offer with regard to accommodation, dining, retail and things to do. We are delighted to support this booklet which not only showcases what’s available, but also acts as a great local resource for visitors to the region,” said Damien.

“The great accommodation offers will also appeal to our drive market who may return to the region within the 12-month period to take advantage of the deals available. This in turn will have a positive impact for all businesses within the region.”

The ‘Coolum Little Book of Vouchers’ booklets will be available from Visitor Information Centres, through various outlets across the region and via all advertisers as well as being distributed to every home between Peregian and Twin Waters next week. A total of 30,000 booklets will be distributed over the 12-month period.

The booklet will be officially launched at an industry event at the Palmer Coolum Resort this evening.
