Last night members of the Queensland legal fraternity raised $35,316 for rescue service RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, at a wine dinner held at The Calile Hotel Brisbane. The record-breaking donations and table ticket sales go towards fulfilling LifeFlight’s mission to save lives and serve the community for generations to come.

Now in its third year, the annual fundraising event — hosted by leading Queensland compensation law firm, Travis Schultz & Partners (TSP) — offered an opportunity to connect with industry colleagues over a three-course meal paired with a premium selection of wines from an esteemed Australian winery, Hugh Hamilton Wines.

But importantly, the 220-strong guest list were there to participate in the live auction and hit new heights in the fundraising goal. This comes on the heels of LifeFlight’s announcement the 2022-23 financial year saw a record 7,349 people helped by the service’s rescue helicopters, air ambulance jets, critical care doctors, flight nurses and paramedics.

LifeFlight says this year’s event funds raised are allocated to the purchase of safety equipment to assist the crews complete offshore search and rescue missions – with one of the ‘big ticket’ items being a new seven-person life raft.

Alisha Clarkson, LifeFlight Community Engagement and Activities Coordinator, says “This project is an important one to make sure our crews are rescue ready for any mission. Being Queenslanders, we are fortunate the ocean is very much part of our everyday lives, however, it means many of our missions are off the coastline. It’s extremely important to act quickly in those first minutes a call is made to our RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crews.”

TSP is dedicated to raising awareness of this unparalleled rescue service, having acted on behalf of critically injured clients who have benefited from the LifeFlight service.

TSP Managing Partner, Travis Schultz, said the Brisbane event is a way to bring together the legal profession to network, enjoy fine wines and to support a charitable cause that needs the community’s help.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from the professional community. Due to COVID-19, the event had to be somewhat restricted in size and scale in recent years, but 2023 brings an opportunity to upscale the event and make it one that is truly memorable and best in class,” Mr Schultz said.

TSP Partner and Brisbane Leader, Trent Johnson, said “This year’s fundraising goal was made possible by seven supporting partners who donated crowd-pleasing auction items, among them – a concert experience with the Foo Fighters and P!NK, a luxury escape to the Maldives, and a Whitsundays snorkelling excursion.”

“Thank you to our generous auction donations from Verify Medico-Legal, Vincents, Lex-Medicus, Bavay Distillery, Brisbane Capital & Qwando, Serenita Glamping & Ballandean Estate, Bulls Masters.”
